The Aqueduct has been a symbol of the city since the completion of its construction in 1735. Similar to the Roman architecture, it has 74 arches that stretch 1,280 meters and its highest point is 28.42 meters.

Its original function was to provide Queretaro with water from the canyon to the multiple fountains located throughout the city. The aqueduct contains a legend: it is said that a marquis was in love with a nun and she asked him to build it for the city.
